The PNA North Houston Mentorship Program is a new program that is created to help provide career guidance and professional development among its members . It is designed to prepare its members through supportive mentors from the association to work on their nursing career goals whether organizational or clinical aspects of their chosen path.
Mentees in this program will be assigned to mentors based on their specific goals. Mentors and mentees will be able to meet with mentoring circles virtually, in-person and will be able to choose how often and location for meeting based on their needs. Mentors are responsible for determining the time, location and topic for each meeting.
Focus:
Leadership Development (organizational/ clinical)
Education (ie: advancement/education/mentoring)
The committee will regularly evaluate other avenues to expand as the needs arise
Mentors and mentees will attend training. Time and place (TBD) will be announced as soon as the committee completes a cohort of mentors and mentees for the program to kick off. During mentor training, objectives as well as guidelines of the mentor program will be discussed, how to be a successful mentor , run a successful circle, and share resources available to participants. A minimum of 6 month commitment is preferred for all mentors.
