By Jan Lim And it has concluded! It was such an honor and priviliged to be part of the PNA America National Convention and 40th year celebration. I feel proud to hear the advocacies and achievements that our organization has done and is doing to the Filipino- American nurses here in the US for the past 40 years. I had the chance to mingle and talked to the past presidents and personally asked them how did they do it and where is that passion coming from. And they spent their time talking to me, as a young leader and told me some inputs how to be as good or even better than them as nurse leader someday. Listening to the powerful and inspiring stories and talks from our caliber speakers gave me so much information and learnings of how they become an effective leaders in their own community and profession. This event also made me realize that being part of this organization will give me an opportunity to give back to the community especially to our own beloved country Philippines by doing some medical missions, "Balik- Turo" program, building houses and donating stuffs during calamities. This organization lobbied and fought for our rights as a medical professionals and workers. PNAA had helped us Filipino nurses so much and we owe a lot to this org of what we have become and how we made a name and has a voice in this Land of Milk and Honey such as helping fellow nurses for cases that some of the nurses face, changed our eligibility to be able to legally work and live in this country, made NCLEX exam available in the Philippines and a lot more. This event gave me an opportunity to meet the current and future leaders of PNAA and its chapters, and fellow Filipino nurse leaders. I made friends and network with my fellow nurses, who have the advocacy of making a difference to our profession. This organization also help Filipino nurses to achieve by providing scholarships to deserving nurses who are into graduate programs, support their research studies and prepare them to be good leaders and recognizes them for all their achievements. Being one of the recipients of this program, the Leadership Devt Program, I am able to learn and enhanced my knowledge about Leadership and how to be come an effective leader in the future. I will end my PNAA journey by showing u a video presentation of the past presidents of PNAA and their advocacies and achievements. I will continue to make a DIFFERENCE and be an ADVOCATE! Thank you PNAA. Thank you Atlanta! Thank you PNAAG!
